We believe that everyone is creative and capable of capturing fantastic images. Our workshops accommodate the needs of both beginning photographers and shooters with more experience with our individual attention extending to those who feel less confident in their abilities as well as photographers who are more experienced.
This workshop will cover the fundamentals of what makes a good photo. Why do some photos look better than others? What are the qualities, which ensure a visually compelling image?
Students learn to set proper exposures, and understand the relationship of light, color and white balance. They also examine shutter speed, aperture, depth of field, various common digital camera program modes, editing, work-flow, photographing moving subjects, low-light photography, and more.
Photographing People. Introductory look at taking photos of adults, children and babies. Students learn common close-up problems and various angles to use or avoid when photographing portraits or formal group shots. Students also explore the use of imagery, mood and themes when devising photo shoots.
Photographing Nature. Composition and lighting are the keys to effective outdoor photography. Students in this course explore ways to exploit a camera's aperture and shutter speed to create exceptional photos of flowers, trees, birds, animals, water and landscapes. Since outdoors photography can involve subjects that are too distant or too dangerous to shoot up close, telephoto lenses are also discussed in detail.
Studio Photography. A brief introduction to the equipment used in studio photography and fundamentals of lighting.
Digital Imaging & Workflow. A brief introduction to Lightroom (editing software), best practices of backing-up and more.
While many of the features and concepts discussed are relevant to all digital cameras including point-and-shoot cameras, more advanced subjects will be applicable only to digital SLR cameras.
